Boston Cendrawasih Debuts Ratoh Jaroe at the Indonesian Festival
Boston Cendrawasih proudly presented its first-ever performance of the Ratoh Jaroe dance at the annual Indonesian Festival in Boston! Interest in joining our group soared following our earlier performance at Apollo Night, leading to the recruitment of 17 enthusiastic dancers—many of whom had little to no prior dance experience.
With such a large group, we needed new costumes. Thankfully, we had a talented fashion designer among us—Ms. Aisyah Oktaviani, who generously crafted our first set of vibrant green and purple outfits. Her beautiful designs brought extra energy and color to our performance.
We were also honored to be joined by Ms. Rahmawati Bustaman, a native Acehnese and our lead singer and dance instructor, who was serving as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Our debut performance was warmly received by the audience, marking an exciting milestone for Boston Cendrawasih!
