Bringing Indonesia Back to the Harvard Arts Festival 🇮🇩✨
Boston Cendrawasih was thrilled to bring Indonesia back to the Harvard Arts Festival. This year, we proudly showcased Tari Mappadendang for the very first time. Originating in South Sulawesi and rooted in Bugis culture, Mappadendang is a post-harvest ritual that celebrates gratitude for a successful rice harvest. In our interpretation of the dance, we incorporated fans into the choreography, blending graceful movements with the lively and joyful spirit of this traditional celebration.
We also brought back our energetic Ratoh Jaroe team with brand-new choreography, alongside our seasoned Tari Piring dancers, who continued to captivate audiences with their vibrant, dynamic performances.
Performing at the festival was a wonderful opportunity to share the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture with the Harvard and Greater Boston communities. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, cheered us on, and celebrated the arts with us!
